The Imminence of Christ's Return

Many believe that Christ could return at any moment but is that true. Let's see what the Bible has to say about His return.

  • Signs will appear before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes (Joel 2:30–31, Revelation 6:12–14).

  • An abomination of desolation will occur in the middle of the last week (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15).

  • Then Jesus calls what follows the abomination of desolation, the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21).

  • Then Jesus says He will cut short the Great Tribulation for the believers’ sake. “And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect (believers) those days will be cut short” (Matthew 24:22).

  • Then, Jesus says, signs will appear immediately after the tribulation of those days (Matthew 24:29).

  • Then the sign of the Son of Man coming on the clouds will appear (Matthew 24:30).

  • Then He will send out His angels with a trumpet call to gather His elect (Matthew 24:31).

  • That day will not come until “the man of lawlessness [Antichrist] is revealed” (2 Thessalonians 2:3, NIV).

· Wrath will occur on the same day as the rapture (2 Thessalonians 2:10).
